Lima: A Pet Friendly Paradise

Traveling with a pet can be challenging, but it's an adventure I wouldn't trade for anything. My dog, Ahsoka, has been my travel buddy for years, and while she wasn't able to come with me on my first trip to Lima, I saw smiling pups everywhere so I was constantly imagining her by my side. From the pet-friendly accommodations to the city's vast parks, Lima is a city that loves pets and offers a range of options that make it the perfect destination for travelers and their pets.

Pet-Friendly Accommodations:

Lima offers a variety of pet-friendly accommodations to suit different budgets and preferences. From luxurious stays like the Belmond Miraflores Park and JW Marriott Hotel Lima to the budget-friendly ibis Lima Larco in Miraflores, there are numerous options for every pet parent.

Lima is a city blessed with an abundance of green spaces and wide walkways that are perfect for pets. I couldn’t help but imagine Ahsoka darting across the grass, looking for Lima’s large population of feral cats. The city's coastal location also means there are numerous beaches where dogs can run and play. Costa Verde, for example, is a stretch of coastline with numerous dog-friendly spots. In the heart of the city, Parque Kennedy in Miraflores is a popular choice for pet owners, known not just for its resident cats, but also for its dog-friendly atmosphere and frequent pet-related events.

Dining with Pets: Lima's Pet-Friendly Restaurants and Cafes

Lima's dining scene also struck me as wonderfully accommodating to pets. Many restaurants and cafes offer pet-friendly outdoor seating, as well as water dishes and treats I know Anhoka would love.
For coffee lovers and their pets, Puku Puku Café and Caleta Dolsa are at the top of my list. Both have excellent brews and an inviting atmosphere. For breakfast or a casual lunch, both Bodega Verde and El Pan de la Chola are fantastic pet-friendly options. Bodega Verde, nestled in the artsy district of Barranco, has a beautiful outdoor patio where pets are welcomed. Meanwhile, El Pan de la Chola, a chic bakery and café in Miraflores, is renowned for its fresh bread and pastries. For dinner, you can pass on ordering Rappi (no hate, I love staying in bed and ordering in sometimes) and head to LA73 in Barranco for ceviche or Panchita in Miraflores by famed chef Gastón Acurio for delicious criollo dishes. Your dog has never eaten better! After dinner hit up La Cafetera for cocktails or Beso Frances Crepería for dessert with a view of the ocean.

So pack your pet's favorite toys and treats and get ready for an unforgettable adventure in Peru's vibrant capital. Ahsoka and I will see you there!
